Autodesk is correct on this one.
With lite use of 3DS Parallels would be sufficient but the more complex your project gets the slower it will be in Parallels Windows.
Since BootCamp allows Windows and 3DS to use the Mac hardware natively you won't have that 'problem' with it.
So personal I would propose to use BootCamp right from the start and not some time later when you have reached the limits with Parallels.
The BootCamp Assistant in OSx which is used to partition your harddisk for the Windows installation also lets you completely delete the Windows partition later on when you are done with it and also adds the diskspace used for the Windows partition back to your OSX.

If that is a Windows app with no OS X equivalent, then you need to run Windows.

Autodesk provides many native Mac products for 3D modelling, CAD, rendering, animation, VFX and digital imagery. In addition, we provide full support for a number of products when used on the Mac in virtualised environments including Parallels Desktop and VMware Fusion.

Parallels, VM Fusion, VirtualBox, and Veertu can also run other operating systems such as Linux, Unix, OS/2, Solaris, etc. There are performance differences between dual-boot systems and virtualization. The latter tend to be a little slower (not much) and do not provide the video performance of the dual-boot system. You must also have an internal optical drive for installing Windows. Windows cannot be installed from an external optical drive. Windows must be installed on an internal drive if you use Boot Camp. A license must be purchased for all commercial software and operating system products. Open Source software is free.
